Most mentors chose a field they are highly successful in. Such as a real-estate mentor or coach. But how do you know a mentor was successful in business? And did their business relate to what you are doing?

Without this information you are hiring someone who may not have a great track record. Even if they were successful at business themselves does that mean they can help others is also a concern.

Just how do you know when you’ve found your match when it comes to business start up or creating a good plan for business growth or a way to increase your productivity?

1. Ask for a list of references in your industry.
2. Be ready to contact and ask hard questions of the references.
3. Ask for a money-back guarantee for the first session or a trial meeting.

Finally look online for business mentor memberships many are free.

Their are so many courses that promise and never deliver it’s easy to be skeptical so when Ed Dale started this years’ pre-launch of the 30 day challenge their were many nay-sayer complaining he was going to teach people how to make $10.00 online in one month. That’s not a lot of money.

So why then did this years enrollment triple last year’s - the contest just started yesterday August 1st - but it’s not to late to become part of the teams. It seems that in the 10 hours before the official launch time there were more enrollee’s than in all the past 30-day Challenges!

Why would so many people be so excited about making only ten bucks in 30 days why that’s only 33 cents per day! Let’s look at history.

1. Ed Dale has done 2 other 30 DC as they are called. In the first one like with most things only about 10% of the people finished and half of those made the $10 I am told.

2. Now listen closely. Of those few that made it to the finished they followed every step and did exactly what Ed asked them to do. They didn’t ‘talk’ themselves out of anything. They didn’t find excuses why they couldn’t do this or spend the time or money (something this years’ challenge doesn’t require). They had faith.

Michael Gerber in E-Myth Mastery talks about the biggest obstacle is ourselves and how to over-come our negative mind-set and build a world-class company. These few people in the first competition did just that. They moved beyond their self-limiting talk and did what it took.

Is doing the 30 day challenge worth your time? Do you want to make 100k online? Is it hype or real? The last 2 I didn’t join a team. Instead I worked on my own more out of concern that my time was so busy I would let my team mates down. But this year I am taking the plunge with a great team made of people who all have a tad of experience online or more.

So why would Ed offer a free challenge? Because actually he always has. If you were a member of the Ultra’s (I was) you could really see some cool things but we can’t discuss that and besides that was the ‘old web’ we are now well into WEB2.0 and you had better have your game together and your market plan well laid out or others will dominate you before you even launch your first site.

So how is the 30 DC going to help all the newbie’s’ that flood the internet each day looking for a way to make a full time living online? It’s going to give them . . .hope.

Yes if they do the challenge correctly they will likely make $10.00. Now that’s not much but when you hold that first check in your hands it really makes it all seem like even you can do this.

The power though lays in being able to duplicate over and over what you learn. That is where you can quit your day job and work full time online.

So why should I bother doing this if I know how to make money online? You see my first Internet Seminar was way back in October 2003 in San Francisco and Ed was one of the people I met.

To say I was green would be an understatement. I had joined a newsletter by Don Crowther who I highly respect to this day. He invited his members to attend and I did.

The names of people like John Reese, Mike Long, Frank Kern, Perry Marshall, Yanik Silver and many more didn’t mean a thing to me. In fact when I met these guys (there aren’t many guru women on the net) I thought they were just regular humans.

I had no clue they had super-human powers to make money online and that in the work of the web they were something special - gurus. Honestly though they are human and while many internet gurus I keep at a distance Mr. Dale is not one of them. He IMHO is someone worth listening to and if you’re smart you’ll take action on what he says

Yes I got hooked and not long after my addiction to the internet took hold Ed and Frank started the Underachievers and the Ultra-underachievers. What I learned from them has kept me online through many changes in the market so why should anyone follow Ed Dale into one more 30 day Challenge - because it works!

Most new comers to online marketing have by now heard of web 2.0 and rumor has it that it’s something that begun in 2007 yet the trimmers began as early as January 2006. Google and other power house commodities had already put into action a way to make the web more educational and informational friendly.

Prior internet gurus had come up with a bright way to make money online without providing much web page content. If you were in need of parts for your new camera you had to wade through dozens of sites that only supplied ads to get to a consumer buying site.

The people search engines wanted to attract were frustrated yet companies like MSN, Yahoo, and the empire of Google all needed revenue sources and their advertisers were just that. So what does all this have to do with finding your golden niche online to have your very own home-based business?

A little history here can actually help you not make the mistake that most folks new and old continue to make when trying to find their online business plan. Just go to google and click on I feel lucky to see some of the many things people are promoting online. Just because you can find it doesn’t indicate buyers.

Let’s face it a big market with thousands of people searching it daily is what everyone dreams of but is it realistic to think you can jump in and make $10 a 30-days. According to most longevity marketers like Ed Dale ( thirty day challenge) and Jason Potash (Portal Feeder) the answer is no.

Today your chances of showing up on the first page in a search with a major keyword is highly unlikely. You must concentrate on the under-served. Those people that look for help and find none. Those new buyers as they emerge.

So just where do you look for shoppers online that no one is providing a solution for?

First go offline. Visit your local bookstore and news-stand. This is still the best place to start. If you can’t walk out with at least 20 topics then you didn’t read the covers of the latest newspapers or magazines. You didn’t view the best-seller non-fiction book shelf and so on.

Notice what the store has displayed as you walk through the door. What’s up front is what people are asking about the most. –>
